  • Romantic Rape

Some other people and myself got on the topic of how more women than you'd think romanticize and fatasize about rape. So naturally I gave them a longwinded speech about my thoughts on it.

Something I find funny about civilization is how much of a lie it is. Society's focus seems to be on pretending that we are not animals and are in full control of ourselves and the world around us, when really the only thing separating us from animals is our logic and reasoning skills... and still a lot of us don't even have that.

The way we think is hardwired by instincts and animal behaviors. It's not so weird that women fantasize about rape when you look at it like that, animals tend to prefer the stronger, more dominant males because they tend to produce healthier offspring. Still, people can't go out and say that's what they prefer, because the civilization front would have them chastised for even hinting that we aren't above animal behaviors. I'm not saying every woman fantasizes about rape, or that it's even normal, but I'm saying it's completely understandable.

And that's not to say every woman wants a dominating man, because they don't. The weird thing about humans, though, is that we have such a wide range of intelligence, too, as well as manufactured "success." Even then, we have also for the most part destroyed natural selection for our species, and I think all of these play a role in mate selection (which I'm pretty sure we would have also destroyed socially if it weren't required for reproduction, I mean, look at how strong of a push there is for abstinence).

This is why I like underground culture, like punk rock shows, raves, and fetish bars. I don't have any fetishes myself, but it's really fascinating to see what people are really like when they don't have society judging them all the time. People take a break from maintaining the front, and everybody works together to just have a good time.

Mosh pits are an amazing thing, everybody is shoving everyone and flailing their arms, chances are you'll get hurt, but you don't care. And the second someone falls down, everybody around them stops to help them back up, no matter what. Outside of a mosh pit, back in civilization, if someone falls, one nice person might rush over to help them up if they're lucky, but more likely everyone just watches or pretends it didn't happen. It's not that we don't want to help, it's that we're afraid we might do something wrong in the eyes of society.

This is why I personally believe that the only way we can advance as a culture is revert. We need to lose our superiority complex over the rest of the world and realize we're just part of the world. Honestly, though, this is the direction we actually seem to be heading.

    Fantasizing about rape...interesting.

  • TheTheologiansCafe

Just act like animals.  I wonder how that will play out.

  • MySecretLoveAffair

I have no interest in being raped.  But a dominating male is fine by me.

Rob, you should have disabled recommends.

I'm gonna laugh if this gets featured.

I'm with @MySecretLoveAffair - I don't want to get raped, but I do expect my man to have a backbone.

  • KimisBarbie

i don't think any girl fantasizes about rape, but a man throwing her on the bed and having his way with her? Yes please.
    no strangers though.
    lol

I actually know a girl that has fantasies on rape...

    Nice post ;)

I'm not sure if "rape" is the right word for it, but I get your point. The idea of a man just doing what he wants with you and taking control is very appealing to many women, but then it would be with concent, so it wouldn't really be "rape"... just great sex. haha.
I deffinatly agree with what you say here.

  • Chinese_Sait0u

the rape thing? i dunno, look at japan.

    nice point about mosh pits

  • TheGreatBout

Helping people after they fall on the ground in public is looked down upon by society?

  • The44thHour

Couldn't be better said. If only enough people would act on it.

  • BenevolentOne

By the way, I wrote a human/animal related topic myself.. check it out if you have the time, Judging by this post, I have a feeling you might like what I wrote.

@beautyinbeautyout - Haha, what the hell do you mean?

  • TheFaintingRoom

"We need to lose our superiority complex over the rest of the world and realize we're just part of the world."
    ^ I second that.

  • Loonsounds

No fetishes at all?  Maybe just a little tiny fetish for fetish bars? LOL. I have never been to a fetish bar but I wanna go now that I hear of it!

Hey I am not much into the idea of being raped, I kinda like a more passive dude who wants to be jumped, but I still do love that scene in the series Rescue Me where he rapes her (he is her ex husband after all) and she has an orgasm.  But then again, it is Denis Leary doin the raping, and that guy is just so damn hot that I cannot be objective.

An interesting posit; but the ending kinda makes the rest of the entry seem pointless. If we're heading in the "right" direction inevitably, what's the point in complaining about the here and now? Or is it mostly that we haven't figured it out sooner; and you'd rather not wait for it to happen? In that case: I agree wholly. Speed up the progression of regression; as it were.

I agree about the underground. It's where people can be who they really are: Animals.

Just because we have cognizant reasoning, does not put us above anything else that lives.

@beautyinbeautyout - If you had actually read, you simpleton, you might've learned something. But, I guess trying to lead the narrow-minded twats of the world to educate themselves is a foolish endeavour. Ah well.

  • Schristian

@DrugInducedDuck - Translation: "I'm a fucking moron who is afraid to think for myself; or even outside of what society has told me to think. Your thinking scares me, so let me leave with the tiniest shred of dignity; before you rend me asunder for being a thick-headed fool."

Or maybe I'm just an asshole.

  • SilentSeekr

Your post was pretty insightful but it ended weird. We should just lose our superiority complex and believe we're just like the world?

You know, deep down not even America's enemies believe that America is just like the world. Not even Democrats. They believe that America is indeed a special place. I don't think America is just like the world, either.
But you are right in that human beings are the same everywhere. But as a culture? Nah
  • EarthsAzureLight

    That was well said Robin

  • SerenaDante

Awesome post. I've always wanted to act out a rape fantasy with my boyfriend, but I'd never actually want to be raped... I suppose that's pretty much the same thing anyway though >.<

  • steph843

Hmmm.. I kind of see where you are going with this, but I respectfully disagree. Specifically, I don't believe very many of our behaviours are guided by instincts. Instinct is something that exists regardless of cultural socialization; something you will be able to observe in all humans. The fight or flight response, sex, and aggression are often considered instincts for instance, but are most of our behaviours aren't seen across all cultures and therefore really can't be considered inborn or instinctual. I think human females (sometimes) seeing men as dominant isn't necessarily instinctual so much as it is so innate in how we are socialized that we assume that it is. I like your point about how we expect too much of ourselves as a whole though. There is this arbitrary idea of what normal is and if you don't act like you fit in it you're judged, labelled as abnormal, or ostracized basically. It's sad. None of us are as normal as we put on. I think most of us have a desire to rebel or give into impulses but care too damn much about what people think of us.

  • TheBigShowAtUD

i agree... it's cool to see what people are REALLY like when they're not pretending to be what they're expected to be.

@KimisBarbie - wow, that was really hot.  nice.
